1967

Umberto founded the family business in Parabiago, focusing primarily on metalworking. In the early days, the production included pots, umbrella stands, and other items that couldn’t yet be made from plastic. 

1970

Partnerships began with Milanese companies specializing in the production of suitcases, boxes, containers, and spinning cans made of vulcanized fiber. This synergy introduced Metal Lastra to the spinning industry, where it developed innovative solutions to improve yarn quality. From Umberto’s ingenuity and experience came the triangular pantograph designed to be lighter and easier to handle and obviously our iconic spring. 

1977

The second generation joins the company. Fulvio Virano, with his passion and expertise, gradually takes the leadership role in production. He dedicates himself to creating and continuously improving our products, refining technologies and manufacturing techniques while maintaining a strong focus on quality and innovation.

1984

Viviana Virano, the current CEO, joined the company and quickly took charge of its administration, overseeing both operational and strategic aspects. Her vision and dedication have helped establish Metal Lastra as a trusted leader in the industry, maintaining a customer-focused approach and a strong ability to adapt to market demands. 

1988

Metal Lastra relocates from Parabiago to Busto Garolfo, which remains its current headquarters to this day. The larger facility allows for an increase in the number of unique machines, specifically designed and manufactured by us, with the goal of continuously enhancing the company’s products offering. The production process becomes industrialized without losing the ability to respond to customer requests in a personalized manner.

2018

The third generation joins the company. Matteo Pagani, son of Viviana, brings valuable hands-on production experience to his new role in the commercial department. With enthusiasm, he focuses on expanding the customer portfolio and consolidate relationships with existing partners. His fresh and dynamic vision integrates with the experience of previous generations, ensuring continuous growth and adaptation to the demands of an evolving market. 

2023

Metal Lastra marks a turning point in its history, shifting from subcontracting to directly marketing its own products. For the first time in 50 years, the company participates in ITMA Milan, presenting itself to the global textile industry and expanding its product range with the introduction of the trolleys.
